How to Fit Exercise Into Your Summer Schedule?

The dog days of summer are closely approaching. In Florida, that means the rainy season is here and the heat is about to be unbearable. Somehow, even as traffic starts to slow down, our lives speed up and schedules quickly fill with family vacations, celebrations, and beach days. Although summer is thought to be a season to slow down, our busy lives can get ahead of us. Maybe that’s why summer goes by quickly. As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun.

Let’s face it, when your schedule fills up, exercise is put on the back burner — and that’s okay! Your main priority in life does not have to be about having a snatched body. Many of my clients are parents, young professionals, or retirees. Sometimes where you’re at in life does not call for a set of six-pack abs. My recent blog, Pilates for Menopause: “Life Doesn’t Stop at 50”, relates to menopausal women and their struggles with weight gain during and after menopause. In this blog, I specifically draw a correlation between their fitness setbacks and this natural hormonal shift. My point is to give yourself grace whether you’re a mature lady or a working young professional parent. You’re at a stage in life that calls for different priorities.

My advice is fitting exercise into your schedule rather than shifting your priorities around exercise. For instance, if you have a family, take your kids for a bike ride around the neighborhood or venture over to the Ringling Bridge with your spouse for a Sunday morning stroll. You’ll be surprised how an easy task like walking can change your physique. Moreover, moving your body can be the best way to help with pain. Again, no matter your phase in life, we all experience pain derived from lifestyle. Especially if you work an office job, your low back will experience some degree of pain. It’s like talking to a clumsy kid that bumped their head, “Shake it off”. Any movement is medicine for the body.

Something to be mindful of during this busy summer season is taking time for yourself. Again, fit exercise into your schedule. Since moving from a small town to Sarasota, Florida, I’ve realized it doesn’t always take fifteen minutes to get to where you want to go. Therefore, your private Pilates session, which you planned to take an hour really takes about an hour and a half. When your kids aren’t at school and need running around, that half an hour is crucial.

Furthermore, I encourage you to take advantage of my virtual options. I continue to serve my clients from Warsaw, Indiana through virtual sessions. This is a great option for anyone far or near. My virtual sessions continue to fit into the mission of Equipoise Pilates. It’s my goal to provide a custom body conditioning experience to enhance your quality of life. I want to help you meet your goals in any way I can.

I do not advertise virtual sessions, but would like to offer my readers to take advantage of my virtual options —
