My Ultimate Pilates Session ✨

My idea of the best Pilates session is one where you feel challenged yet successful — one where you sweat, stretch, and the exercises never get stale! I’m constantly mixing up what I teach to keep it interesting to my clients and me. The Pilates repertoire complemented with the equipment allows for a versatile practice to focus on the needs of the practitioner while providing a full body workout. Pilates will kick your butt and leave you feeling energized and ready for more all at the same time. Annie’s Session

Before I begin my session, I set the mood. I turn on my salt lamp, play my Pilates music, and turn on my essential oil diffuser. I like to use lavender or my personal favorite, Capri Blue. Then I get right to my session:

Warm-up

✨Mermaid with spinal twists

✨Bow and arrow spinal twist

Workout

✨Traditional footwork (sometimes mixed with various ab exercises to keep it spicy 🌶)

✨Traditional arm work (added abs 👀🌶)

✨More Arm work 

✨Planks

✨Lunge series w/ stretch 🍑

Cool-down

✨Hip Series 

Bonus 💥

✨Short box series aka Ab blaster 🔥

While this might not be what everyone does in their sessions with me, this represents the outline I follow for a full-body Pilates practice. The fun part of Pilates is not every session needs to be the same. Everyone has different needs and should not expect to work at the same pace as someone else. In more traditional methods of Pilates, the practice focuses on breathing with slow and controlled movement while other contemporary methods focus on speed and repetition. I like to have balance and offer clients both. Strength is developed through both controlled movements and muscular endurance. Pilates is versatile and every practice should reflect its versatility. There are many exercises and different ways to have the ULTIMATE PILATES SESSION — the world of Pilates is your oyster, let’s make your own!
