About Equipoise Pilates

Owner

Annie Maxwell

I’m Annie, owner and Pilates specialist at Equipoise Pilates. With a background in dance, I naturally shifted into the Pilates world. Experiencing firsthand how Pilates changes lives, my mission became clear. My goal is to transform your body and enhance your quality of life. I take a compassionate and personalized approach with each client. Every client should feel challenged yet successful! With years of experience working with a diverse range of clients—including those recovering from injuries, managing chronic pain, athletes, and pre/postnatal clients —I specialize in creating intelligent, supportive programs that meet your needs. Every session is designed to empower, restore, and elevate your everyday movement.

Beyond the studio, I’m married to the love of my life. We’re expecting our first baby in July!

Frequently Asked Questions

Equipoise Pilates will take duo sessions upon request. The studio requires at least one person to have completed three sessions or the introductory package. This policy is in place to deliver the best experience for both the instructor and clients. You will feel more confident and comfortable having at least three previous sessions under your belt.

Although Equipoise Pilates primarily instructs private in-studio sessions, I love connecting with people and other business owners through collaborative events. I have both my Pilates and yoga certifications and will teach either exercise. Some of my past events include Yoga at Port Winona in Winona Lake, Indiana, Yoga for Dancers at Debra Collier’s School of Dance in Warsaw, Indiana, and Yoga to promote athleisurewear at Elysian Co., in Warsaw, Indiana.

Like anything, the more you do it, the faster and better the results. Most clients do Pilates two or three times a week. I recommend at least two times to see the best progress, but it is most important that Pilates is a manageable addition to your routine. It is better to do Pilates once a week than not at all.

All in-studio sessions are equipment based. The equipment in Pilates is fundamental to creating a foundation for proper alignment and to access mobility and strength. You would be surprised that translating equipment exercises to the mat is more difficult and strenuous on your body. Our goal is to develop strength and flexibility without any pain or strain.
