Client Stories: Pilates is for EveryBODY (I know it’s cliche)

It’s cliche to say Pilates is for everyBODY — But as I dive deeper into my own personal practice and witness clients’ practices develop, I am in awe of the impact it has on their lives. When you first start your sessions, I make the promise that Equipoise Pilates will transform your body and enhance your quality of life —I truly mean that. I want to share two client stories that illustrate who Pilates is designed for, how it transformed their bodies, and how their stories shape the way I run Equipoise Pilates.

The Golfer

The Golfer was a loyal client when I first opened in Warsaw, Indiana. He loves to ski and golf. I came referred to him by his club’s golf pro that saw his back injury hindering his ability to fully engage with the sport and enjoy other simplicities of life. When I first met him, he was seeing a personal trainer but continued to experience flare-ups at the gym. After some time with the Pilates equipment, he quickly noticed he had more access to a pain-free range of motion than he was getting elsewhere. Through a consistent Pilates routine, The Golfer had his “first pain-free golf season since [his] injury”.

The Desk Lady

The Desk Lady first came to me in Indiana as I was packing up for Florida. She consistently took three sessions a week from me while I was finishing my last two months up north. The Desk Lady was committed from the beginning — too bad I was moving away. That didn’t stop her. She continues to take virtual mat private sessions with me. Her dedication and commitment reflect Joseph Pilates’ mission for his students to fully engage in the practice to experience change. The Desk Lady self-proclaims she’s “out of shape”, but in the last year has grown her “agility and mobility” since starting Pilates.

These two clients’ lives before Pilates reflects many of yours. Some of you might relate to the active young golfer or to the sedentary mature desk lady. That’s the point! You can relate to both or neither and Pilates will still be for you. Taking a customized and personalized approach has made all the difference to these clients’ growth. One-on-one sessions keep my clients challenged and accountable for their practice. I hope like The Golfer and The Desk Lady, you too will commit to your practice and transform your body.
